Template Creation and Implementation (2008)
- I sliced and implemented the XHTML/CSS templates for the NPRA site redesign.
- I implemented all of the site's static content, and I worked with our team developer to implement the CMS.
- I also coordinated training for the client on how to update the site with the CMS and how to update the static pages.
Site Design and WordPress Implementation (2008)
- Another Story Entirely is the current working title of my blog; it's a little scrapbook/memory book site I maintain, chronicling the life of my 4-year-old son.
- I've had fun tooling around with WordPress and designing new themes for the blog from time to time.
- I recently redesigned it, and I'm pleased with the results. I had some fun with typography here; trying to see how much Times New Roman I could get away with.
Site Design and Implementation (2008)
- I designed and implemented the website for Art at the Center, an art studio that offers classes for young children.
- I also gave the site owner a HTML tutorial, so she is now able to make her own site updates — without my help.
Prototyping and Front-End Development: Personal Profile Creation (2008)
- FMI's users complained that the "Create a Profile" process was difficult and unweildy.
- I worked with Matrix’s Information Architect to help design a new user flow that was simpler and less punishing.
Prototyping and Front-End Development: Employment Database (2008)
- Matrix created an employment database for FMI. Users can search and view job openings in the association and apply online.
- For the admin side, FMI can post, edit and delete positions and view applicants for each job.
Template Creation and Implementation (2007)
- I sliced the design comp for the CAS Variance Journal and implemented the site’s static content. I also helped implement the Content Management System.
- The Variance CMS is integrated with that of the CAS, so I worked closely with the developer to ensure that the front-end and back-end were working together across the two sites.
Template Creation and Client Training (2007)
- Matrix provided a website refresh for MoneyTrack. Our team designer gave their site a face-lift, and I wrangled their HTML into a standards-compliant XHTML and CSS template.
- Their resident webmaster needed some background to get up to speed on XHTML and CSS. I provided some basic phone/WebEx training on how to get the most mileage out of their new templates.
Template Creation and Implementation (2007)
- I created the XHTML/CSS templates for the Nomaco Insulation home page.
- I implemented the content and prototyped the Contact Us form.
- I also helped implement the CMS display pages.
Template Creation and Implementation (2007)
- The organization wanted to give an overview of their site’s features to new users, most of whom are at or nearing retirement age.
- I sliced and implemented the design using Dean Edwards IE7 scripts to utilize alpha-transparency effects in IE6.
Template Creation and Implementation (2006)
- The CAS implementation was a huge challenge. It was a very old site with content dating back to 1997. Much of the content was static and our FED team worked with the developers to devise python scripts to bring the old content into the new templates.
- I made made use of Cold Fusion includes when putting together the site. Previously, template changes required a massive site-wide search-and-replace procedure — never fun. Now the client need only make changes to one file!
CSS Implementation: Personalized Content Pages (2006)
- After the launch of the CAS redesign, Matrix created personalized home pages for members of the CAS. Users could select various categories of content to view on the home page.
- I implemented the design into XHTML/CSS.
- When you click each heading, the category lists expand and collapse. This effect uses the moo.fx script library.
Prototyping and Implementation: Non-Flash Virtual Tour (2004)
- When Matrix re-designed the Mount Vernon site in 2004, it was a gigantic team effort. One of the more notable pieces I worked on was the non-Flash Virtual tour. This was intended to be a low-bandwith alternative to the interactive Flash piece.
- I designed and implemented the HTML-only version of the tour, highlighting the various rooms and artifacts throughout the mansion. The Flash version is much more impressive, but I truly enjoyed working on this piece.
